[Friday, May 22, 2026] Cheolsoo Kim of the Global MD Division at Samkwang Co., Ltd., and Hanyong Kim, a staff member from the Strategic Planning Office, participated in the “Memorandum of Understanding for the Scale-up of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Robot Industry Value Chain” held at Gyeongbuk Technopark.

This agreement was established to secure future growth engines by scaling up the value chain of the robotics industry—a specialized sector in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region—and to revitalize the local industrial ecosystem by advancing the value chains of upstream and downstream anchor companies and SMEs in the robotics sector.

Participants in the agreement included the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, Gyeongbuk Technopark, the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH), the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Commercialization Division of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Research Division of ETRI, SL Co., Ltd., Ajin Industry Co., Ltd., Hanjung NCS Co., Ltd., and Hwasin Co., Ltd.

Key provisions of the agreement include establishing a cooperative framework based on the core competencies of each participating organization, strengthening the connectivity of the robotics industry value chain to promote the scaling up of local companies, and Samkwang Co., Ltd. committing to build a win-win cooperation system between large and small/medium-sized enterprises and to lead the adoption of robots and the smart transformation of manufacturing sites.

Kim Cheol-soo, CEO of the Global MD Division, stated, “This agreement will serve as a meaningful opportunity to enhance the competitiveness of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk robotics industry value chain and accelerate the smart transformation of manufacturing sites.” He added, “Samkwang Co., Ltd. will also work closely with the partner organizations and participating companies to contribute to the expansion of the robotics industry ecosystem and the development of the regional industry.”

Through this business agreement, Samkwang plans to continue collaborating with relevant institutions and companies to contribute to the advancement of the robotics industry ecosystem and innovation in manufacturing sites.
