1. Self-Introduction Hello! I’m Kwon Yong-moon from the Samkwang Global Finance Team. I joined Samkwang on January 5 and am currently spending my time learning and understanding the company’s processes and financial flows by combining on-the-job training (OJT) with two hours of practical work in the Finance Team each afternoon. 2. Responsibilities within the Team Samkwang is currently in the process of migrating to a new accounting ERP system. My role in the Finance Team involves transferring journal entries from the existing ERP to the new system, while reviewing and identifying areas for correction and improvement. I view this not merely as data entry, but as a process of re-understanding the company’s accounting standards by comparing the existing processing methods with the structure of the new system. Unlike the theory I learned in college, accounting practices in the real world vary slightly depending on the company’s characteristics and transaction structures, so there are many things I need to double-check and ask questions to learn. Nevertheless, I approach my work with a mindset of always asking questions and seeking to learn, and thanks to my teammates who always explain things in detail, I feel motivated to work even harder. 3. My Most Memorable Moment at Samkwang I tend to get very nervous whenever I’m taking the first step in a new endeavor. I remember losing sleep the night before my first day of work, running through various scenarios in my head over and over again. Arriving at work with a mix of nervousness and excitement, I immediately participated in onboarding and company orientation sessions, where I learned about Samkwang’s history, business areas, and the overall structure of the organization. After the orientation, I joined the Finance Team and began working directly with daily cash reports and financial statements. It felt completely different from the simple numerical problems I had solved in college, which focused mainly on numbers and content. Looking at the ledgers filled with actual amounts, various accounts, and specific transaction details and supporting documents, I was struck by the realization that numbers are not just the results of simple calculations, but records that directly reflect the company’s operating, investing, and financing activities. 4. Motto and Values My motto is, “Be grateful for everyday life and cherish small joys.” Although I went through difficult times while preparing for employment for about a year, I now feel happy simply because I can wake up in the morning and go to work. I am also always grateful to the senior colleagues who greet me with a warm smile whenever I say hello. 5. Hobbies I enjoy both watching and playing soccer. I developed a love for soccer in elementary school while watching Park Ji-sung play for Manchester United, and I still vividly remember the moment I saw Son Heung-min score a goal at a Tottenham match. Even now, whenever there’s an important game, I naturally tune in, and I relieve stress by playing futsal with friends. For quieter hobbies, I enjoy drawing and playing the piano. When drawing, I constantly think about color and composition until I finish a piece, and when playing the piano, I enjoy the process of refining a piece through repeated practice. 6. My Future at Samkwang Rather than setting grand goals for my early career, my primary objective is to become someone who consistently performs their assigned tasks well. I will solidify my foundational skills to handle tasks quickly and accurately, and I will strive to go beyond simply following instructions to learn more and gain a comprehensive understanding of the overall workflow. My immediate goal is to become someone my teammates can trust to handle responsibilities. Since I’ll be working with the company’s financial data, I’ll approach my duties with a strong sense of responsibility and integrity. I’ll also actively communicate with my teammates to grow together, and as a professional who upholds basic principles and courtesy, I’ll develop into a valuable asset to Samkwang.
As a member of the Finance Team, I considered taking cold showers to save on gas costs… but I’ll be taking hot showers for the rest of my life! I usually enjoy going to public bathhouses, and the time I spend soaking in a hot tub or getting splashed with water is a great source of relaxation for me. When you consider the benefits to my overall well-being, I actually think it’s a good return on investment.
