Samkwang Technology Research Institute has been officially selected for the 2025 3rd Design Industry Technology Development Project, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Industrial Technology Planning and Evaluation Institute, to develop a “highly personalized wearable device that provides visual and auditory assistance.” 

This project is being jointly undertaken by Pretec, the Seoul Metropolitan Government Association of the Visually Impaired, and the Seoul Metropolitan Government Sign Language Interpretation Center Regional Support Headquarters, with a national project agreement currently in progress.

The developed product is an integrated wearable device based on AI assistant smart glasses that assist with vision and hearing. It features a 360-degree ambient situation guidance function, enabling the wearer to detect rear hazards even while walking, and provides multi-sensory information through HUD (head-up display), vibration, and voice guidance. Notably, it offers various modular structures such as eyeglass-type, sports earphone-type, and 360-degree around-type, allowing users to select and wear them according to their style and needs.

This research and development is expected to lead the next-generation assistive device market, which integrates design and manufacturing based on rapidly advancing AI and wearable technologies.
