캐나다 토론토에서 온 편지. 셋 Author사내기자 Date2019.07.15 Hit1251
글쓴이. 송세은 (오토모티브사업부 송병주님 자녀) 아빠로부터 금번 여름 방학에 캐나다 현지 어학연수 가는 것으로 선발 되었다는 소식을 들은지가 엊그제 같은데, 내가 벌써 캐나다 토론토에 도착한지 1주일이라는 시간이 흘러가고 있다. 나에게 있어서 캐나다라는 나라는 TV에서나 보고, 꿈의 나라로만 느꼈었는데, 막상 직접 와서 경험해 보니까, 아직까지도 나 자신이 캐나다에서 머무르고 있다는 사실이 믿겨지지 않는다. 이 곳에서 홈스테이를 하면서 다양한 사람들을 만날 수 있게 되었고, 마치 캐나다 현지인이 된 것 처럼 그 들 속에서 현지 음식을 먹고, 대중교통을 이용하며, 유학 생활에 열심히 적응하고 있다. 나는 워낙 영어를 못했기에 너무 걱정이 되었었고 지금도 막막함이 있다. 그래서 현재 같은 반 사람들은 나보다 훨씬 더 높은 수준으로 영어를 잘 한다. 이렇게 해서 따라갈 수 있을까 하는 막막한 마음에 걱정꺼리가 한 짐이 되었다. 하지만, 그 두려움을 극복해서 8주간의 시간이 흐른 후에는 그들 속에서 유창하게 영어로 대화하는 나 자신의 모습을 그려 본다. 열심히 부딪혀 보려 한다. 피땀 흘려 가장의 자리를 지켜 주시는 아빠의 회사에서 어렵게 주신 기회인데, 최선을 다해 주어진 시간들을 채워 가야겠다는 결심을 하며, 오늘 암기해야 할 단어를 되 뇌이고 있다. “사랑하는 아빠 최선을 다 해 볼께요~~ 사랑해요~데디” [토론토 시내의 멋진 건물을 바라보며 감탄~~] [열심히 수업에 임하고 있는 송세은 학생]
